Year 5

Welcome to the year 5 page.

Most of the work in the Autumn term is based around the Victorians. Children will learn about the era itself, why we study it and how life has changed from then to now.

We also look at prominent children's authors of the era such as Charles Dickens, Lewis Carroll and J.M. Barrie and find out more about their work.

In other areas of the curriculum: in French we study clothes and schooling; in Computing we study programming, art and design on computers and in Science forces and materials and their properties.

During the Spring term the children investigate Natural Disasters such as Earthquakes and Volcanoes.

In Science we study living things and their habitats. This will include a range of investigations and research.

During the Summer term, the children learn all about the Ancient Greeks and their legacy. Myths and Legends are linked to literacy so that the children are immersed in the topic. We then look forward to enjoying the festivities of a Greek Day and feast!
