Year 4

Welcome to the Year 4 page.

Most of the work in the Autumn term is based around the Saxons and Vikings. We learn about the key features of these periods and why people wished to invade and settle in Britain. This will tie in with our learning about stories with historical settings, which is one of our Literacy topics.

During the Spring term we move on to look at our local environment in Geography. The children also spend 3 days away at Sayers Croft in Ewhurst. The children have the opportunity to build on our Science topic of habitats, as well as taking part in some outdoor and adventurous activities.

During the final term of the year, the children learn all about the weather and climate in our local environment and around the world. This year we have a new trip to Nower Wood Educational Centre near Leatherhead to support the learning for this topic.

All in all the children will have a varied and exciting experience in Year 4.

More information on the topics, homework and planning can be found below.

Year 4 Curriculum Video Presentation 2021-22
Please find below a link to the Year 4 Curriculum Information presentation. This is a pre-recorded, Zoom put together by the Year 4 teachers, with the aim of giving you more information about the organisation of teaching and learning in the year group. As teachers, we are not professional TV presenters by any means, but have done our best to share as much information in this way as we can! Despite many months of Home Learning, none of us feel 100% comfortable on camera so please do watch the video and then if you have any questions come and find one of us, Hannah Auger (4A), Emma Toulson (4WT) or Debbie Wright (4WT) on the playground and chat face to face.
